National Events Chairman, Ed LaCroix
Greetings Rocket Enthusiasts,
Welcome to the NAR’s annual and all virtual technical conference- vNARCON!
vNARCON is where rocket enthusiasts share technical information about model and high power rocketry, electronics, construction techniques, competition, and commercial space. Co-Event Directors, Ed LaCroix and Todd Schweim want NAR members, educators, and the general public to know that anyone can purchase tickets and watch/participate in all three days of vNARCON!
Beginning at noon on Friday the 28, the agenda will feature two tours and a social hour where all the registered attendees can gather and chat; an evening Keynote by Jenna Foertsch and Andrew Adams of the Hot Nozzle Society, and the ever popular, Bob Sanford hosted ManuFacts where representatives of rocket companies from across the country will talk about their latest and greatest products.
On Saturday the 29, vNARCON really gets off the launch pad with 18 breakout sessions from a diverse list of speakers. You will hear from the likes of Joe Barnard, Jim Barrowman, Bernard Cawley, Chris Flanigan, Matt Steele, and many others.
Just a few of the topics the breakout sessions will explore are: Altimeters, ARLISS, prepping and painting for a great finish, exclusive L1 kit build, and flight control systems. And because the World Spacemodeling Championship is coming to Austin, TX in July, 2023, members interested in seeking involvement will have access to five presentations covering topics such as: parachute construction and deployment, airframe construction, and rocket-glider and helicopter model construction.
The Saturday night keynote will be one not to miss! We are delighted to announce that John Langford, CEO of Electra.aero and owner of Estes Industries will be our speaker. His keynote titled, “Building Back Better- Making Estes Great Again” is sure to inform and surprise us with insights into what John and the leadership at Estes see as the future for the most historic hobby rocket company in the world.
On Sunday the 30, the agenda will feature an exclusive “build it-take it” session with Will Marchant where Will will guide you through the construction of an Arduino based altimeter. There will also be a ‘linear track’ of three presentations being led by world class spacemodeler’s in anticipation of the 2023 FAI World Spacemodeling Championships.
And to wrap things up, Sunday will conclude with Geoff Nunn of the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington, leading us on an awesome tour of the museum’s Apollo Gallery which contains a treasure trove of artifacts from the era of the United States’ moon landings.
Too much good stuff? Ticket holders will have exclusive access to all recorded material; including sessions, tours, and keynote speakers for 30 days!
Buckle up buttercup, you’re in for a fun ride. Registration is now open!
