Flyer and Spectator Info

Situational Awareness.  Objects often fall from the sky, sometimes at a very high speed. We have rules and procedures to make this activity as safe for everyone as possible, but things can happen if the rules are not followed. Everyone attending must understand and follow these rules to ensure safety.

  • Pay attention. Every flight is potentially dangerous to you and your family. If the Launch Control Officer (LCO) yells “Heads up!” he means it.
  • If you hear “Heads Up” and/or an air hornblasting,it means that a rocket, or parts of it, is falling into the spectator/parking area. GET UP, SCAN THE SKY, and make sure that you or the people near you are not under the falling object!
  • Parents please keep your children under control and are sure they understand these rules.
  • Pets; can we bring our dog? Rockets are often very loud; many dogs are very frightened of these loud, fast-moving objects. If Fido is accustomed to rockets then you may bring him LEASHED, and be prepared to clean up after him.
  • Use of Radio Control—R/C rocket-boosted glider flights originating from the either the contest or sport ranges should leave the area directly over the ranges following the boost phase of flight so that other models may be launched. R/C model flights that are not part of NARAM competition or sport rocket activities shall not be made near the ranges or spectators. All R/C flyers shall be familiar with and in compliance of all FAA UAV regulations including TRUST certificate and registration markings if required on aircraft.
  • Please stay behind the flagged flight line barrier, and do not set up your chairs, etc. at the barrier.
  • If the LCO announces a flight as a “Heads Up” flight, that means get on your feet and pay attention until the rocket’s recovery device deploys, or until the rocket is on the ground.
  • Do not attempt to catch any high power rocket as it lands.
  • Do not pick up or move any rocket that is not yours, unless you have the owner’s permission.
  • Park your vehicle in the designated parking area.
  • Please keep control of your trash and help us to keep the property clean.
