Three one-hour sessions, October 10, 12, and 14 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Launch Day is Saturday October 22nd at 9:00 AM.
Classes and registration are handled through the Alamosa Family Rec Center at www.alamosarec.org.
Course Description:
Build a rocket from the bottom up and launch it! This class is an entry-level model rocket program for parents and kids. You will learn:
• Model Rocketry Safety Code
• How a model rocket works
• Students will experience what it is like to be a model rocket scientist while making and launching their own model rocket.
• We will measure, mark, cut, sand, glue, and paint.
Items Provided:
• Model Rocket Kit
• Launch Pads (for the class to use/share)
• All engines, wadding, and rocket-specific related supplies
Bring these supplies with you:
• A small box to put your supplies in, about the size of a shoebox
• Masking tape
• Razor knife (x-acto or similar. We have extras if you don’t have one.)
• Pen
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Scissors
Optional Supplies (bring them if you have them):
• Plastic cement
• Wood model glue
• Paint for your rocket
