Jul 30, 2015 – Aug 2, 2015 – Sun, Salt, and Rockets, 20 Years of Hellfire
HellFire’s excitement carries through 4 days. Each day holds something a little different from the next. Below is a brief explanation of each day and it’s activities. Below is a short list of how the days will play out. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. This is the same schedule we have followed for the past several years. It has worked well and attempts to address the needs of all of our flyers. This schedule is subject to change without notice.
Thursday, July 30th – Day One NAR Sport Launch
Begins about 9:00am and continues until about 5:00pm
Waiver open to 10,000ft AGL, Windows upon request to 25,000ft AGL.
First day of HellFire! This is when the majority of the flyers make it in to the site. Registration table will be ready to pass out your flyer’s packets and to register you if you didn’t already register (Shame). Most of the flyers spend their time setting up their base and prepping their rockets. Waivers will be in effect and we will be flying under NAR High Power rules. Both NAR and Tripoli members are welcome to fly today.
Friday, July 31st – Day Two TRA Research Launch
Begins about 9:00am and continues until about 5:00pm
Waiver open to 10,000ft AGL, Windows upon request to 25,000ft AGL.
Research Day, this is day is in place to allow those members requiring to fly their projects under Tripoli’s Research Launch rules to get their stuff off the ground. This is an excellent day to see some big projects go up. The volume of flights will be fairly low because of the restriction to Tripoli members only. However, the quality of the flights is usually very impressive. Different from year’s past, NAR members will be allowed to fly high power, non research flights on Friday! However no one under 18 is allowed past the model rocket pads this day. All flyers under 18 must be accompanied by a senior Tripoli Member.
Saturday, August 1st – Day Three NAR Sport Launch
Begins about 9:00am and continues until about 5:00pm
Waiver open to 10,000ft AGL, Windows upon request to 25,000ft AGL.
This is where it starts getting crazy. Saturday is flown as an NAR Sport launch. All NAR and Tripoli members are welcome to fly. It’s a good idea to have your projects ready to go. It does get busy through out the day, it’s very possible to find yourself waiting in a line at times. Please be patient, our Range officers will be working to move everyone through as quickly and more to the point, as safely as possible. Lots of flights.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their oldest HellFire T Shirt (including LDRS 17) to the launch!
Sunday, August 2nd – Day 4 NAR Sport Launch
Begins about 9:00am and continues to end of launch
Waiver open to 10,000ft AGL, Windows upon request to 25,000ft AGL.
Last day, sigh… The launch will again be held under the NAR Sport Launch Safety rules. Both NAR and Tripoli members are welcome to fly on Sunday. Clean up will usually start somewhere between 12 and 2pm depending on the activity and interest. Most people agree that it’s time to go by Sunday afternoon. We invite anyone that can stay and help pack up to do so. We hand out raffle tickets for a special “Clean Up Raffle” with some great prizes given out once the salt is cleaned up.
