Kick off the new contest year and be the first to fly the new year’s NRC events. I expect this to be a low key, self run event. Many of the NARAM-61 and last year’s NRC models could be flown in this year’s events. There would be no charge to participate in this NRC event and it would be open to any current NAR member. Registration for NARAM Sport or Contest flying would not be required.
This launch would come with some caveats. Since this is getting shoehorned in relatively late, we would have to be flexible on a few things.
• The exact location we would be launching at will have a lot to do with wind direction and might be specified at the last minute (There are two AMA National Champ events going that day- the second day of F3K at Site 4 and and the second day of ALES at Site 5. And there may be other AMA activity not associated with the Nat’s at other locations)
• If the AMA hears of any static that day about the NRC activity, it may need to be quickly curtailed.
• This would be a B(Bring or Borrow)YO range gear-type event, ie launchers (I expect those could be shared), altimeter readers, payloads, etc, since the NARAM equipment will have to be packed up the day before. I’ll have stopwatches, scale, cards, forms and a Firefly reader for us. Someone else has volunteered a laptop with Adrel ALT-BMPs and MicorPeak software. This shouldn’t be a big deal for this crowd.
I have volunteered to be the CD for the event and have been tasked with assembling a list of folks who would participate. If you think you would stick around and likely get yourself in the Top 10 Nationally, please send me a note and let me know.
