New NAR Contest Certified Motor
The new Quest Q-Jet B14T by Aerotech is now contest certified and may be used at NARAM 65. Follow the link for a complete list of all contest certified motors.
Important Dates
The 2024-2025 NRC year starts August 10, 2024 immediately following the close of NARAM 65.

The RCP process operates on a one-year cycle which begins the day after NARAM ends. The following pertinent action dates are coming up.
- First day after NARAM ends (August 10,2024)—Approved RCP’s go into effect for the new NRC year.

Results for the 2023-2024 Rules Change Proposal Cycle
The 2023-2024 RCP process concluded as of June 15, 2024. Appendix “D” in the sporting code states that proposals must receive a 51% yes vote in order for the proposal to become a part of the sporting code. The proposals that did pass become a part of the sporting code that will be revised and effective as of August 10th 2024 for the new contest year, but have no bearing on NARAM-65. A total of 47 ballots were received. Some voters abstained from voting on all of the proposals. The results of the ballot are as follows:
RCP 2023 102: Change the release/publication date for a Classic Model entry.
Yes: 45, No: 2
RCP 2023 104: The rule section (54) for Concept Sport Scale is missing the one-meter judging requirement.
Yes: 45, No: 0
RCP 2023 106: Change the events flown in the NRC to require one craftsmanship event to be flown each year.
Yes: 12, No: 34
RCP 2023 101: 3D printed parts in craftsmanship events
Yes: 41, No: 4
Important Dates
- The last day of the 2023-2024 NRC contest year was June 30th, please make sure all results are submitted by July 7th, 2024
- The last day for qualification flights for the US Team flyoff is July 21st, 2024.
- All scores must be submitted by July 22nd, 2024.

Emergency RCP (June 2024)
A recent emergency RCP has passed that allows the Contest Board to set the NRC year end date as needed. The previous NRC fixed end date of June 30th lacked the flexibility to accommodate NARAM flying sites at times of the year other than the traditional late July to early August timeframe.
The Sporting Code rules impacted by the recently passed emergency RCP are updated in the June 2024 version of the USMRSC and will go into effect immediately.
The 2024-2025 NRC year will be August 10, 2024 to June 11, 2025.
NARAM – 66 will be held at the AMA’s IAC site in Muncie, Indiana. Dates are set for Saturday June 21st through Friday June 27th 2025.

May 15 – June 15—The period for Member voting. Deadline to submit your ballot to the RCP Forum is midnight, June 15.
Please remember that RCP voting is for all NAR members.
If you don’t vote online, then you may vote in person during NARAM.

Updated NAR competition rules (April 2024)
The latest edition of the NAR USMRSC includes a clarification for Superroc duration and updates to the return rule for duration events in appendix C. This change came from an emergency RCP to clarify the event before NARAM – 65.

NAR Contest Rocketry is governed by the US Model Rocket Sporting Code. The Rules Change Process can be found in Appendix D of the Sporting Code. The 2022-2023 Rules Change Proposal comment period is now closed on the NAR website. Next up in the RCP process:
- May 15—RCP ballot published on the NAR RCP Forum to allow voting by the membership.
- May 15 – June 15—The period for Member voting. Deadline to submit your ballot to the RCP Forum is midnight, June 15.

RCP Process (April 2023)
NAR Contest Rocketry is governed by the US Model Rocket Sporting Code. The Rules Change Process for that code can be found in Appendix D of the Sporting Code. The 2022-2023 Rules Change Proposal comment period is now open on the NAR website. I encourage those that fly competition rocketry to read the proposals and read the comments being posted by your fellow competitors. The comment period for the current set of rules change proposals is open until April 30. Member voting on the final proposals for changes will be open May 15 – June 15, and any approved revisions will take effect after NARAM-64.
