HPR Level 1 Certification Overview
This document outlines the requirements and procedures for obtaining Level 1 High Power Rocketry (HPR) Certification through the National Association of Rocketry (NAR). It explains when high power certification is required, based on rocket weight, motor impulse, thrust, propellant mass, or motor type.

To qualify, candidates must be at least 18 years old, be a NAR member in good standing, and use certified rocket motors. Certification is evaluated by a qualified, unrelated Certification Team, and the flight must be witnessed in person. The candidate must personally build and safely fly a rocket using at least one H or I class motor, demonstrating proper construction, stability, recovery system deployment, and safe recovery.

The process includes pre-flight inspection, technical questioning, a witnessed flight, and post-flight inspection. Successful candidates complete both paper and digital certification forms, after which the NAR confirms the results and issues a temporary certification card followed by an updated membership card.
