Helicopter Duration Event Rules

FOR MINI MOTORS (13mm)
Rotaroc 13 The Helicopter Duration event first appeared in the 1979 revision of the Pink Book. By the mid-1980's, George Gassaway's Rotaroc emerged as the design that most people built and flew. The Rotaroc has been offered in kit form by several manufacturers, and is to this day a favorite for helicopter duration.
Whirl-A-While John DeMar developed this easier-to-build variant of the Rose-A-Roc design. Painstaking custom wire hinges are replaced with commercially-available nylon hinges, and the result is a high-flying, contest-placing design.
Tazmanian Devil George Gassaway came up with easy-to-build alternative to the normal "complex" helicopter models. While not a competitive design it is does achieve the objectives of the helicopter duration event, and makes a fun sport model too.

FOR STANDARD MOTORS (18mm)
Rose-A-Roc Art Rose developed this helicopter duration design in 1981, and has since earned a reputation as a highly-competitive design. A Rose-A-Roc's rotors are tucked away behind the nose cone, and out of the slipstream, which gives it an advantage over the Rotaroc design. This design is much more difficult to build than a Rotaroc, but not beyond any patient and resourceful modeler.
Rotaroc 18 George Gassaway's Rotaroc scaled-up for standard-sized motors.
