Dedicated to The Weekend Warriors of Rocketry
Throughout the contest year, which runs from July 1 to June 30, NAR competitors strive to amass points in sanctioned competition by attending launches in their Section, their local area, or their region of the country, and winning or placing in over 25 different rocketry events.
The top competitors meet and battle it out for the title of National Champion each August at NARAM, the NAR's annual national competition meet. NARAM is held in a different location in the US each year, giving everyone an equal chance to participate.
Competitors are divided into three divisions, by age:
- A Division: Ages 7 through 13
- B Division: Ages 14 through 18
- C Division: Ages 19 and up
A fourth division is maintained for group efforts (Team Division), and a Section Championship is awarded to the Section whose members have amassed the most points during the contest year.
Any NAR member is eligible to participate in or to sponsor sanctioned competitions! Full instructions, as well as the formulas used to calculate competition points, are contained in the US Model Rocket Sporting Code (the "Pink Book"), which is available free with your NAR membership.
Our most recent competition rankings appear below. Please direct all questions and corrections to the National Contest Board Chairman.
Find out if you have what it takes to beat the best!
